After Tawag ng Tanghalan finalist Sofronio Vasquez’s successful blind audition on “The Voice,” another Filipino is turning chairs in the competition.
She’s none other than the 24-year-old Filipino American singer Kay Sibal who wowed the coaches of “The Voice” with her performance of Laufey’s “From the Start” during the show’s blind auditions.
She earned praise from all but one of the coaches.

It was Gwen Stefani who first hit her button, expressing a strong desire to mentor Sibal.
“I feel like I could be such a good coach for you. I just know it and I’ll tell you why. Because your heart just feels really open like you’re just taking this all in. You’re so positive.” Stefani said. “You have so much potential, like I know exactly what to do to help you.”
ADVERTISEMENTCoach Snoop Dogg also praised Sibal’s performance, highlighting her confident control of the song.
He remarked that she captured the jazziness of the piece while infusing it with her own unique flair. He noted that she made the most of the moment and that it was a joy to witness her talent.
Michael Bublé echoed this sentiment, sharing his admiration for Sibal’s ability to make the song her own.
“You did something that just blew my mind. You made that song so yours,” he added, emphasizing their potential collaboration to explore new musical avenues.
Bublé conveyed that if he were to take this journey with an artist who could transition from jazz to pop, it had to be with her.
He emphasized that their collaboration could help keep the music alive, a sentiment he had discussed with Laufey.
In a response to the judges for her decision, Sibal ultimately chose Stefani as her coach. On the flip side, Vasquez chose Bublé to be his coach.
