MANILA, Philippines — Four weather systems are affecting the Philippines and are expected to cause rain in many parts of the country on Thursday, Nov. 28, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
In a morning weathercast, Pagasa weather specialist Rhea Torres said the shear line would influence atmospheric conditions in Northern and Southern Luzon areas.

The axis of the shear line is expected to shift downward in the coming hours,” she said in Filipino.
Torres also said that the shear line would affect Cagayan Valley, the Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora, and Quezon.

Article continues after this advertisementThe northeast monsoon, meanwhile, will influence atmospheric conditions in Metro Manila, as well as the rest of Northern, Central, and Southern Luzon on Thursday.
Article continues after this advertisement“In the remaining parts of Northern, Central, and Southern Luzon, there will still be light showers. These are isolated rain showers caused by the effects of the northeast monsoon,” Torres said.
For some parts of the Visayas and many areas in Mindanao, there are high chances of rain on Thursday due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), according to Pagasa.
Article continues after this advertisement“Due to the effect of the intertropical convergence zone, there is a high possibility of rainfall in large parts of the Mindanao area. We also see cloud clusters that may bring rain to areas in the Visayas today,” Torres said.

The Pagasa weather expert said the ITCZ specifically affects Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Caraga, and the Davao Region in Mindanao; and Bohol, Siquijor, and Eastern Visayas in the Visayas.
Torres likewise explained that localized thunderstorms may result in partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms in the rest of the country.
On the country’s seaboards, the state weather agency issued a gale warning over the northern, eastern, and western coasts of Northern Luzon due to the effects of the northeast monsoon.

“It is dangerous to set sailudbet, especially along the coastal waters of Northern Luzon, because we expect rough to very rough seas due to the effect of the northeast monsoon, particularly in the waters of Batanes, as well as Cagayan including the Babuyan Islands, and the coastal waters of Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur,” Torres said.
