The district also reminded parents and students that they can direct any questions to the M-DCPS Support Center from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. to assist with questions.

“Many families in our communities, including District employees, were impacted by this storm. The long weekend will afford some additional time to recover and reopen schools for students on Tuesday, October 15,” the District said in a statement.
Hurricane Milton caused major damage across Central Florida after making landfall on Siesta Key just before 8:30 pm Wednesday evening as a Category 3 storm with 120 mph winds. It finally pulled away from the other side of the state Thursday morning, just north of Cape Canaveral. South Florida felt high winds and some rain, and parts of Palm Beach and Broward counties saw tornadoes.
