Miami-Dade County Public Schools announced that all public schools and facilities will reopen Friday and all Adult Education classes, after-care programs, athletics and school activities will resume as well. The district also reminded parents and students that they can direct any questions to the M-DCPS Support Center from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. to assist with questions.

Families can get information in several ways:

The M-DCPS Live Chat is available on the District’s website or by texting 1-844-908-1674. The Live Chat may also be accessed from the Dadeschools mobile app. Families can also speak with an agent by calling 305-995-HELP.

Late Thursday, Palm Beach county schools announced that schools remain closed on Friday, Oct. 11.

“Many families in our communities, including District employees, were impacted by this storm. The long weekend will afford some additional time to recover and reopen schools for students on Tuesday, October 15,” the District said in a statement.

Hurricane Milton caused major damage across Central Florida after making landfall on Siesta Key just before 8:30 pm Wednesday evening as a Category 3 storm with 120 mph winds. It finally pulled away from the other side of the state Thursday morning, just north of Cape Canaveral. South Florida felt high winds and some rain, and parts of Palm Beach and Broward counties saw tornadoes.
